Larry & Sarah

Larry & Sarah, originally uploaded by avelli.

I met Larry and Sarah today outside the town hall meeting were Lisa Murkoswki was addressing questions about the health care reform bill.

Larry is currently a homeless Veteran who doesn’t want to see the public health care option run like the VA benefits.

Sarah’s son Zachary was born with cerebral palsy. She has done bake sales and spaghetti dinners to keep him alive. Sarah wants the government to help it’s people.

There is some serious hidden talent in Mt.View. For the past month I have been walking the streets getting the word out about the Photovoice workshop that starts tonight. Ive got an anxious fear and excitement that reminds me of what starting a new school year felt like. I am stoked!

Connecting dots

One time i felt really uneducated because I couldn’t come up with the name of a person i would want to have over for dinner. I thought about a few but i felt like i had no connection with them mostly because they were the default big names everyone would know. Muhammad Yunus looks at people in poverty and sees potential. I have this theory that there is stagnant energy everywhere and it takes only a creative open mind to harness the energy.

Communication errors!

can’t explain it but it happens about as often as i open my mouth. Words just don’t communicate what i’m seeing in my head, let alone feeling in my heart. My brother Herbert had this problem all the time in school. Frustrated because he could neither understand what was being taught or explain what he saw, my family later discovered Herbert was a visual spatial learner. I used to think of my brain as a pretty even mix of the good old left sided serial processor, and it’s better half the right sided parallel processor. I’ve come to realize that my mind process information about 3 parts right brain for every 1 part left. I’m sure that sentence before makes no sense to some, but guess what i just read it out and loud and it speaks as clear as day to me. What can i do to better explain… mmm… I know! I’ll need neighborhood street, preferably a coldisac, and a bucket of chalk.

Laurita Dianita

Laurita Dianita y Oki Avé

A few of you have asked me if my site is dead. The answer is yes-no. I’m half annoyed at wordpress complexity, but mainly ive been telling myself im too busy. I’m lucky though because i’ve met an amazing woman who not only has taught me to use the apostrophe, but is also helping me slow down. Laura is an athletic feminist who is going to change the world. I love her. Thanks to Clark-O who took the photo of us at opening of my show  “kids & bikes“.

Kuba & Wayne Willams

I googled like mad and found zero info on these two Characters.
Kuba is a hippo that was raised in a Zoo primarily by Wayne Williams in i believe Seattle. I found the framed poster that appears to date back to the late 70′s if not early 80′s and read the letter on the back. I was so suprised that this wasnt on the web. Well now it is with the existence these words and photo. We are all collectors of our archives now.

Its the eve of a new yea and im listening to a Goldfrapp remix and imagining what 2009 will be like. THe truth is I already know because I have it visualized in ive even begun documenting. Off all the big events to come, I have two on day two of this new year. 1st, i get Chino back. 2nd, a group of my closest friends and I are having a photo show. It will be part of the First Friday downtown gallery circuit in January. The theme is people. The show its self will be made of b&w square prints the old school way. So heres to 2009, and to chapter 3 of my life. *deep breath*
